Computing with Words and Perceptions

Computing with words and perceptions is based on fuzzy logic, a way of doing science without mathematics. It is the branch of artificial intelligence that tries to make computers think the way we humans do. Often humans cannot get science right to the point, computing with words and perceptions offers common-sense solutions.

The Symbiotic Future: Operational Research and Generative AI

Generative AI is rapidly transforming numerous fields, and Operational Research (OR) is poised to experience a profound shift. This introductory speech will explore the dynamic interplay between these two powerful disciplines. We will delve into how generative AI tools are already being applied to enhance traditional OR methodologies, from data synthesis and model generation to complex problem-solving. We will also examine the challenges that arise, such as ethical considerations, data bias, and the need for new theoretical frameworks. Furthermore, we will focus on the immense opportunities that generative AI presents for OR, including the potential to tackle previously intractable problems, develop more adaptive and resilient systems, and unlock new frontiers in decision-making. This presentation aims to spark a stimulating discussion on how we can leverage the transformative power of generative AI to shape the future of Operational Research.
